My Trip to the UK and Ireland, Day 7

We woke up in the morning, and started walking... and soon past this pub, with a ton 'o kegs in front of it. Our hostel was just down the street.

We headed off to Trinity College to see the book of Kells. This is Trinity.

Well, we saw the book of Kells, which was quite kewl.. but of course you can't take pictures in there, so next is this giant metal globe thing. I dunno, it was big, and metal.. and I took a picture of it....

The campus was pretty impressive... and they really love James Joyce out here...

The buildings look impressive.. and very classic. I will give them that.

Now we start our tour of cathedrals. This one seems like it's a conglomeration of 3 buildings stuck into one.

We ventured away from the church, and went to this small park. It was currently closed, as they were cleaning it, but we got a good view of this castle-like wall. I thought it looked quite kewl.

There was an Anti-Bush/Anti-War demonstration going on June 25th. We'd be gone by then. Pity.

This is Christ Church. Church #2 on our Dublin Church tour.

Christ Church seemed like a meeting place for college-aged kids to eat lunch or just hang out.

The weather was gorgeous, by the way. This is still Christ Church.

Christ Church was tall.. and the foundation of the original church was excavated in the front lawn.

This is kinda kewl. "The Cat and the Rat". The sign below says :
"The one presumably chasing the other, were trapped in an organ pipe in the 1860's and became mummified."

We have now arrived at St. Patrick's Cathedral, and there was a large park out by the Church.

This is St. Patricks.

It was quite large... and capturing the entire thing proved difficult.

The steeple was under construction.

Here's me and St. Patricks. As you can see, I got to shave last night. [And there was much rejoicing.]

Dublin seemed to have it's fair share of classical looking buildings.

Also, Michigan should get some castles.

More churches.

After grabbing some quick [and very good] food, we headed to the Guinness Storehouse!

Hi! It's me by the Guinness Storehouse.

Yeast = Black Gold. We're in the museum now, learning how Guinness is made.

You got to walk under a small waterfall as you learned how the special ingredients made Guinness one of the finest things man has ever created.

It was decided that the next "keg party" really ought to be a "copper party". These things were huge.

Told you those coppers were huge. One Copper has 600 barrels, and 1 barrel has 288 pints. So one copper equals a massive hangover for an entire town.

On the top floor was the bar, where you could get your "free" pint of Guinness. At this point, you've been lead to believe that drinking a pint of Guinness is nothing less than a religious experience.

The top floor also features a fine view of Dublin. Hi! from the Guinness storehouse.

I am very excited about drinking this Guinness.

I finished my Guinness, and it was wonderful.

This is an art museum. It was filled with unimpressive art.

It did lead to a very nice park, though.

Very neatly trimmed hesges and trees. I know someone who would like to cut one of these trees in half... vertically.

From the park by the art museum we moved to this park, which was quite nice, and filled with lovely people... then it started to rain.

There were a number of these blue birds, which I thought looked really kewl. 10 points to the person who can tell me what kind of bird this is.

We ended up enjoying the nice weather while sitting on a bench, looking out at that lonely soccer ball stuck in the middle of the mucky pond.
