Jeff Bandstra's Bachelor Party Golf Outing

Here's Keith [left] and Sven [right]. We three were a team, and the first team out there. Sven and I hadn't been out to a course yet this year [and to the driving range only once] so we were ... a little "off" when we started.

The carts are always a source of amusement, even when the golf game isn't going well. Going best ball is fun because it provides you with opportunities to try to pick up your ball while moving along at a full clip in your cart. Here's a hint: be sure it's your ball you're snagging, or other people get pissed.

After the first few holes, we had more or less abandoned out "let's par the course" plan, and were more shooting for "let's par a hole". I hate golf.

You probably can't see them, but the next group in our outing was starting to catch up to us (we had some slower players ahead of us that we were waiting on). Here we are trying to figure out how much they're beating us by already.

And here's that group. It's Al, Josh, and Paul.

I think these are the people we're waiting for.

Here's Keith hitting. It's best ball, so you can kinda adjust your lie a bit... if no one is watching or recording it...

Here's Josh [left] and Paul [right]. They were doing fairly well... then Paul started golfing like a madman, and proceeded to waste us.

Here's Al, Josh, and Paul. We're all waiting. We didn't have to wait all that much that day, and we didn't mind it too much when we did. The beer lady came around fairly often anyway....

Here's a shot of me. I had a few decent drives, and maybe a few decent iron shots, but otherwise I totally sucked out there. My putting was especially attrocious. The only thing I was consistent on were shots from the fringe, when I used a high iron and put it near the hole. I guess if you can't be good at something, you should at least look good while doing it, so I have that going for me.

Here's Paul again, looking pleased. I'll tell you right now: With this group, it's next to impossible to go more than 10 minutes without either hearing or saying "How you doin?" in a nice Joey from Friends accent. It's great..

I should mention again that the weather was excellent.

Here's a problem: When I've got an audience, I tend to suck. So here we are at the tee box, with Paul, Josh, and Al watching. I'm fairly certain my shot went 50 yards forwards, and 150 yards left. I hate golf.

Here's the final group, with Jeff, his brother, his future brother in law & someone I've managed to forget already. We assumed they were doing quite well.

Well, maybe Jeff wasn't doing all that well, but the team probably was.

Here's Paul teeing up. He was driving like crazy. We'd be setting up our 3rd shot and see his drives land just behind us. It was amazing.

Besides some construction in parts, this course was just plain beautiful. I love golf.

Here's the final hole. We've already finished, the 2nd group is putting, and the third group is lining up for a ship from maybe 7-10 feet from the green.

We had already managed to biff up our putts a few minutes ago...

They've got a decent sized putt to hit, and it's a really large green.

And they were taking their sweet time with it...

Well, they missed it, and 2 putted.

See where they're standing? And see where the flag is on the far right? Yeah, Jeff's brother drained the chip. I wish I had caught that on video. It was perfect, with all of us there to watch. It was a great outing. I love golf.
