Apachecon Day 2

Here's where BDF and I stayed. Just up the stairs: 2560. Pretty nice place.

The weather here rules, and there are palm trees everywhere. This is right around our hotel room.

There are a ton of pools around the hotel area. See those pop machines? Yea.. They don't work at all. No matter how hard you try. Fascists.

Did I mention there were palm trees everywhere? Yea.. They're everywhere.

This is the Parthenon Convention Center, where most of the Apachecon stuff was held.

This is the little restaurant in the Hotel. I took this shot mainly to prove that I was indeed eating, but I managed to get a shot that excluded anything even remotely suggesting food. There are plenty of bottles back there though...

This is the room where I was going to have my tutorial session: Mangling Data with XLST.

After listening to these guys talk for a little while, I realized 2 things: 1.) I can never consider myself a huge nerd. 2.) A collection of huge nerds is a very scary thing to behold.

Then these guys showed up, and put the other table to shame. I dare say they were having entire conversations that included nothing but computer jargon strung together in impressive--but ultimately terrifying--sentances.

After about 10 minutes of waiting, I realized I was in the wrong room. So I darted out, and managed to find the right room. After finding myself a nice quite place to hide, I tried to figure out what was going on

The XLST session was led by Doug Tidwell. It was quite good, if not a bit ovewhelming.

That guy in the middle is falling asleep. It was fun to watch.

After some A-Team like sneaking, I managed to get a shot of this guy. He's got a Monacle! How kewl is that!?

This guy took off his shoes, and started rocking back and forth. He did this for at least a half an hour. It was annoying.

Ever see The Lost World: Jurassic Park 2? You know the scene where they're on the roof, and the tiles start sliding off the roof, and the raptor just barely misses killing them all. Yea.. That movie sucked.
