What’s the smallest number of pitches possible for a pitcher to pitch, and still pitch a complete game. (Not counting games shortened by weather or other non-game related situations).

My Weekend
Phantastic Fotomosaics
So for a while now (remember this?) I’ve been looking into how to make something kewl using a number of smaller parts. I had, back in the day, made a wallpaper I was fond of using Nine Inch Nails lyrics. But this time I wanted to use just photos, like a photomosaic So I started looking for some software that could help me out, and I’ve found a few, including one linux command line version that thus far has worked pretty swell for me (metapixel). So I thought I’d show you my intial trial of it.
For these things you really need a lot of photos to make these things work well, so I decided to put together all of my Europe (Italy, France, UK, and Ireland) photos, and then pick a good photo from one of those trips to test it out. You’ll remember this shot Joel took that I really liked… well this will be the photo I want to recreate:
So after collecting all the europe photos together into a directory, I ran the thing a number of times, altering some settings until I got a result I was impressed with. Here is a closeup of the final result at full size. This section contains my head.

And here we have the full photo (Scaled down of course. I have a big version, and a giant version to check out.. the actual image is twice the size of the giant image, and you’re not going to wait for it to download…
R.C. Car Update
[Update: A bit more work has been done, and more pictures have been added to keep you up to date. Rachel has almost finished all assembly, save for attaching the tires, and is ready to move on to body work and painting.. and I just need to make the shocks, and add a number of misc. protection parts, and then I'm ready to make/attach tires as well. The joy of throwing batteries into the thing, and turning on that controller and turning the wheel, and seeing your car actually respond is hard to describe. For something so simplistic, it really does feel like magic.]
Work has begun on our R.C. Cars, and as expected, it’s hella-fun. Rachel has made quite a bit of progress on her Mini, while my Raybrig NSX 2000 is slowly but surely coming along. I’ve put the next batch of pictures up, and you should check them out, as I crave attention.
Brain Quiz #23
Time for another one where you’ll prolly have to ask some questions to have a shot:
The murder weapon was a rifle, but the victim was not shot. The cause of death was asphixiation. What happened?
Radio Controlled Cars!
They arrived! Rachel and I will be building R.C. Cars, and they just arrived at my doorstep. I’m pretty excited about it, and as is my custom, I’ll be following our progress with my camera, and posting pictures on this site. So far, I can say without much doubt that they are awesome.
A Open Letter to Katie Holmes 5 Years in the Future.
Dear Katie,
Hey there! First of all, welcome back! It’s great to see you out in the public eye again, and I’m sure that this new Batman movie will do wonders to vault you back into the limelight. I know the last few years have been really hard on you. First you started dating, then married that psycho, [I'm told he's in a safe place now, and getting the help he needs] which was certainly a turn for the worse… Then you joined that crazy cult, told them your most personal and darkest secrets, which they recorded and filed away, in the off chance that you tried to leave said crazy cult… then paid money to stay a part of the crazy cult. Then after that train-wreck of a 2 month marriage fell apart, and you kinda started to realize that this guy was insane, and part of a large group of insane people… well, that’s when things seem to get harder for you. I tried to follow all of your legal dealings with the cult when you finally started to speak out against them, but I had such a hard time keeping up with them all that I finally just gave up. I hear your deprogramming went well.. Kinda weird that it took you just a few days to get “in” but almost a full year to finally get out, eh? Yeah, well, I guess good decisions aren’t exactly your strong suit ( I seem to recall you picking Pacey… seriously.. Pacey!?! ). I worried about you when you had that complete breakdown and just disappeared for a while… but I guess it’s what you needed. Anyway, I’m happy for you. Now, if only you had.. oh, I don’t know… listened to that psycho speak for a few minutes 5 years ago… or heeded the entire planet’s advice when you started dating him… maybe you could’ve avoided this whole ugly incident… Live and learn, eh? Anyway, lots of luck. Great to have you back.
Ron
P.S. You know, just for future reference: Things that you thought were just a super idea back when you were like 9 years old might not be the wisest things to do when you are in your mid twenties. Just try to keep that in mind.
